A month alongside the biancocelesti champions: the training sessions, the build-up to the big matches, the atmosphere inside the locker room and many moments shared outside the pool as well.
Issei Noda, a 25-year-old water polo player from Kashiwazaki, a Japanese city in Niigata Prefecture, recently took part in the Pro Recco excellence training programme, an initiative that allows players from around the world to experience life inside the club.

“We are proud to open the doors of Pro Recco to water polo players from all over the world,” said club president Maurizio Felugo. “After hosting an athlete from Malta, we also had the pleasure of welcoming Issei from Japan. Experiences like these show that our club wants to be not only a sporting reference point but also a place of growth and sharing. We offer these players a rare opportunity, almost impossible in other sports: the chance to live the daily life of a team of champions from the inside, train with the best players in the world and breathe our mentality. In a way, it’s a form of sporting Erasmus: an exchange of culture, passion and values that enriches them but also us as a club. This pathway will continue: we are ready to welcome other athletes eager to experience the world of Pro Recco from within”.
“It was an experience beyond imagination, one of those that can change your life”, Noda said. “I’m especially grateful to Andrea Mladossich for welcoming me into his home and helping me with daily life in Italy. Living with him allowed me to focus entirely on training and understand what it truly means to live as an athlete. I gained not only technical water polo skills but also a mindset, discipline and sense of teamwork that I will carry with me forever”.
Sukno’s Training Sessions – “What struck me most was the intensity and the attention to detail, simply incredible. Every pass, every shot, every movement had a precise purpose. The speed of the game and the physicality were beyond anything I had experienced before. Training with these players made me understand why this is the strongest team in the world”.
The Welcome – “From the very first day I was welcomed with warmth and respect. The atmosphere in the locker room is extraordinary: professional and focused, yet at the same time friendly and full of energy”. The funniest teammate? “Matteo Iocchi Gratta. He was kind and helpful from the moment I arrived, helping me settle in and feel at home. Here he has become my best friend and I’m grateful every day for his kindness and sense of humour”.
Favourite player – “Francesco Di Fulvio. He’s not only an extraordinary player but also an exceptional person, with great character and true leadership as captain. After winning the Italian Cup he personally gave me his jersey, which I will keep for the rest of my life. I would also like to mention Giacomo Cannella, Francesco Condemi, Alvaro Granados and Tommaso Negri: each of them is incredible in terms of talent, team spirit and professionalism. Training alongside champions like them pushes you to improve every day”.
The biggest surprise – “The player who impressed me the most in the water is Rino Burić. His physical strength, technique and ability to control position at centre are extraordinary. Watching him play motivates you to try to reach that level.”
The Club – “What struck me most is Pro Recco’s winning mentality: it’s a model. It’s not just about talent but discipline, unity and daily commitment. Everything is organised at the highest level and being part of this environment teaches you how champions think and live. In one word? Excellence”.
The Lesson – “I will take back to Japan the mentality of these champions with whom I spent a month training side by side. Consistency, discipline and daily commitment are what build greatness, both in the water and in life”.
The City – “Recco is beautiful, peaceful and right by the sea, with a truly special atmosphere. You can feel everywhere the city’s passion for water polo, and that makes it a unique and deeply inspiring place”.

Un mese insieme ai campioni biancocelesti: gli allenamenti, l’avvicinamento alle grandi partite, l’atmosfera dello spogliatoio, ma anche tanti momenti insieme al di fuori della piscina. Issei Noda, pallanuotista 25enne proveniente da Kashiwazaki, città giapponese della prefettura di Niigata, ha partecipato al programma di formazione d’eccellenza che permette a giocatori di tutto il mondo di vivere il mondo della Pro Recco dal suo interno. Centroboa, gioca nel Bourbon Water Polo Club Kashiwazaki.
“Siamo orgogliosi di aprire le porte della Pro Recco a giovani pallanuotisti provenienti da tutto il mondo – afferma il presidente Maurizio Felugo -. Dopo aver ospitato un atleta maltese, abbiamo avuto il piacere di accogliere anche Issei dal Giappone: esperienze come queste dimostrano quanto il nostro club voglia essere non solo un punto di riferimento sportivo, ma anche un luogo di crescita e condivisione. Offriamo a questi ragazzi un’opportunità rara, direi quasi impossibile in altri sport, quella di vivere dall’interno la quotidianità di una squadra di campioni, allenarsi con i migliori giocatori del mondo e respirare la nostra mentalità. In un certo senso è una forma di Erasmus sportivo: uno scambio di cultura, passione e valori che arricchisce loro ma anche noi come società. Questo percorso continuerà: siamo pronti ad accogliere altri giovani atleti desiderosi di vivere dall’interno il mondo della Pro Recco”.
“È stata un’esperienza oltre ogni immaginazione, di quelle che cambiano la vita – racconta Issei – Sono particolarmente grato ad Andrea Mladossich per avermi accolto nella sua casa e aiutato nella vita quotidiana in Italia. Vivere con lui mi ha permesso di concentrarmi totalmente sugli allenamenti e di imparare che cosa significa vivere da atleta. Ho acquisito non solo competenze tecniche nella pallanuoto, ma anche una mentalità, disciplina e senso di squadra che porterò con me per sempre”.
GLI ALLENAMENTI DI SUKNO – “Mi hanno colpito l’intensità e l’attenzione ai dettagli: incredibili. Ogni passaggio, ogni tiro, ogni movimento aveva uno scopo preciso. La velocità di gioco e la fisicità sono state oltre qualsiasi esperienza mai vissuta prima d’ora. Allenandomi con questi giocatori ho capito perché questa sia la squadra più forte del mondo”.
L’ACCOGLIENZA – “Dal primo giorno sono stato accolto con calore e rispetto. L’atmosfera nello spogliatoio è straordinaria: professionale e concentrata, ma allo stesso tempo amichevole e piena di energia. Il più simpatico? Matteo Iocchi Gratta: è stato gentile e disponibile fin dal mio arrivo, aiutandomi ad ambientarmi e a sentirmi a casa. Qui è diventato il mio migliore amico e gli sono grato ogni giorno per la sua simpatia”.
IL GIOCATORE PREFERITO – “Francesco Di Fulvio. Non è solo un giocatore straordinario, ma anche una persona eccezionale, con grande carattere e vera leadership da capitano. Dopo la vittoria della Coppa Italia mi ha regalato personalmente la sua maglietta che conserverò per tutta la vita. Vorrei citare anche Giacomo Cannella, Francesco Condemi, Alvaro Granados e Tommaso Negri: ognuno di loro è incredibile, per talento, spirito di squadra e professionalità. Allenarmi accanto a campioni così ti spinge a migliorare ogni giorno”.
LA SORPRESA – Il giocatore che mi ha impressionato di più in acqua è Rino Burić: la sua forza fisica, la tecnica e la capacità di controllare la posizione al centro sono straordinarie. Guardarlo giocare ti motiva a provare a raggiungere quel livello”.
IL CLUB – “Mi ha colpito la mentalità vincente della Pro Recco, un modello. Non si tratta solo di talento, ma di disciplina, unità e impegno quotidiano. Tutto è organizzato al massimo livello e far parte di questo ambiente ti insegna come pensano e vivono i campioni. In una parola? Eccellenza”.
LA LEZIONE – “In Giappone porto con me la mentalità di questi campioni con cui ho vissuto un mese a stretto contatto. Costanza, disciplina e impegno quotidiano sono ciò che costruisce la grandezza, in acqua e nella vita”.
LA CITTÀ – Recco è bellissima, tranquilla e affacciata sul mare, con un’atmosfera davvero speciale. Si percepisce ovunque la passione della città per la pallanuoto e questo rende il luogo unico e fonte di grande ispirazione”.
